iLinux File Server is ideal as Media Center. The interface is simple and speedy as hell so streaming movies and music is snappy and smooth. Unlike other Media Center apps, iLinux File Server focuses on speed. No bells and whistles, no pretty graphics and animations, just raw power. Yet beautiful. My kinda app...
Hint: You can just put links of media folders into iLinux File Server's default folder, instead of copying the files. ;-)

Kodi and file servers are quite different....
Besides Manjaro is just as bad as iLinux.
If you don't like iLinux don't bust our balls. Go use whatever linux distro you like and don't hijack threads. We like iLinux.

I always appreciated the simple approach in technology.
Kodi and other media center apps are too heavy for old computers and have lost their way if you ask me.
iLinux File Server runs fine as a media center/streaming server even on a netbook without lag.
And an interface that does only what it needs to: Transfer data fast.
That's success.
That's usability.
With iLinux File Server for streaming and Popcorn for media center I don't need anything else...

Download Popcorn Time (.deb) from

Install it.
Open it and go to Settings (Cog icon on top right of Popcorn Time window) > API Server(s)
In all three fields (Movies API Server - Series API Server - Anime API Server) enter:
Restart Popcorn Time and your are good to go!
Popcorn Time is very smooth. Thanx @Seraf! Too bad it can't be preinstalled in iLinux due to legal limitations.
iLinux itself is illegal because it breaks the LGPL license used by GTK...
