The main website sucks

append delete pokapp13

Hello there.

I want to tell that the main website (https://ilinuxos.com) is very sucks.
The design is very unprofessional, and why in the main site you show some images that have no relation to iLinuxOS? I would suggest that instead of create a new page of each of stuff, group all of them into one page will only simple description and maybe include a demo video or something. The icon look too kiddy, which other people may not like it. What software did you use? I think I can suggest one for you.

My suggestions are:
- Group everything into a short page that only show what really made the system unique
- Remove all image in the main site, it just show some people, did that have anything to do with iLinux OS?
- Hire an icon designer, design more professional icons
- Make it more professional by removing all unnecessary pages, or grouping them into some short page
- Rework of the theme, allow people to customize it
- Rework the creator information page. Maybe insert your image or something because you are kind of making yourself a god by inserting that light image.
- Hire a web designer to give you advice
- Use a new web software

Anyway I really like the OS because it's very smooth and just fit my needs, but the website sucks, really.

That's all.

Hello there!

Glad you like iLinux OS!

I really appreciate your input about our website. However, how a website feels is totally subjective.

I know that our website is not the typical Linux Distribution website (and we like it that way), but after all iLinux OS is not a typical Linux Distribution.

I assure you that I am not a God but a normal person like the rest of you! ;-P

I just like the sun, clear skies and the sea very much! And I love all the combinations of blue and white!

The image in the Creator's page, is one of my all time favourite wallpapers and the story behind it is this:

It's a screenshot from the amazing iTunes Music Visualiser in action, from Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 .

Have a wonderful day/night!

I don't get it...

You like the icons in iLinux OS when you use it but you don't like the same icons on the website? :O

Well I just modified them. Or, I just tweaked the whole system to replace all kiddy icons with newer gradient icon and also tweak some themes so it fit my use.

@pokapp13

Care to share some screenshots of your modifications?

Keep in mind that "Semantic Folders" are designed to fit with the preinstalled Icon Themes.

I will post some screenshots later on. But, I can say that I have heavily optimized the system too.

The RAM usage and Disk usage of iLinux is so insane. RAM on Idle is 5.64 GB used and Disk usage is over 64 GB (my laptop only have 500 GB of Disk Space and also it's a HDD. It also have only 8 GB of RAM). My laptop even struggle to even opening the File Manager only. So by using chroot on another Linux LiveCD I was able to bulk removing everything I don't need and disable some default features. Some are Extra folder, default theme, 450+ default preinstalled applications and possibly more. After that RAM usage is now only 3.32 GB on Idle and Disk usage is now only 48 GB and the system now can open File Manager and do some basic task, but it still struggle very much. Turns out because of backgrounds task such as GoogleChromeUpdater, which ocupies over 704 MB of RAM, and much more. By killing it and tweak the system startup list (which is a mess, a mass scaled mess), the RAM usage is now only 2.71 GB on Idle. The extra folder and preinstalled applications are the biggest source of disk space here, by removing 90% of them and the whole extra folder (+ disable the ability for the system to automatically downloading anything to this folder), the system works pretty smooth. Also one weird thing is that this OS does not have an guided installer but "clone"? At least please allow me to select timezones, disk to install, dualbooting, bootloader settings and allow me to freely choose my username & password.

After doing these heavily optimizations (it took me 4 hours to get it done), the system works very great for my old laptop.

That's total bullshit!

5.64 GB RAM usage on idle and 64 GB disk usage after install?!

You are a blatant provocateur at best!

We use iLinux too you know...

RAM usage after install is 1-1.1 GB...

You are so lame...

@pokapp13

Seems you Linux Mafia Army thugs are back...

Aren't you tired of exposing your failed Gang to the public?

RAM usage after install is 1-1.1 GB...

Different hardware have different specifications.
You are using newer hardware, which the system need less memory to process complex stuff.

append delete #12. Fotini

@ClickNin

RAM usage after install is the same regardless hardware...

I am using a Centrino by the way and you are a known member of the Linux Mafia Army, so whatever...

append delete #13. ClickNin

Explain why on my system on Idle RAM usage is 1.36 GB while another friend of mine is only 0.96 GB then?

Also just fucking stop bullying others, and I said NO MAFIA EXIST HERE.

@ClickNin

No one believes you Linux Mafia thugs...

A small fluctuation may be normal but 5.64 GB idle with no Apps open?!

Yeah right...

@pokapp13

This is ridiculous . You want us to believe that instead of using another distro, you installed iLinux just to strip it from everything that makes it unique and criticise it? You are so lowlife. Go vomit your ridiculous propaganda somewhere else.

And you said you have 30 Years of IT experience and you can't even design a proper website.

If you don't like our website, don't visit it and don't see it.

End of story.
